Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube is on a mission to set a new record in the world of comedy and get his name in the Guinness World Records for doing 35 shows in seven days from August 17 to 23.
The current record is 30 comedy shows per week. Carl’s 35 shows will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia.
The tour will kick-off in Cape Town and go to Johannesburg on the second day. Third and fourth days will have shows in Harare with day five going to Norton, Kadoma and Gweru.
The sixth day will have a show in Bulawayo and on the final day, Carl will perform in Victoria Falls, Livingstone and Kasane
Carl states that the record attempt is a great chance to create international interest in him as a comedian and the Zimbabwean arts industry at large.
“Zimbabwe needs to be known for other things besides corruption and many prophets. It has to be known beyond discussions about businessmen stealing money or many other evils being perpetrated in various sectors,” he said.
The stand-up comedian is confident about this endeavour and is keeping himself in shape by exercising in preparation for the tour. He brushed off featuring other comedians in this attempt since it is an individual record not a “team record”.
“It is easy for multiple comedians to break the record,” he said.
He is going to be doing an average of five shows on a single day for seven days. Carl is also going on an Asian tour in November this year when he will have shows in Thailand, Malaysia and China. He will also have a tour of Kenya later this year
