Man torches friend to death after dispute

A MAN from Chimombe Squatter camp in Marlborough yesterday appeared in court for torching his friend to death after a misunderstanding.

Ignatius Bomba,23,appeared before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe charged with murder.

The State represented by Peter Kachirika opposed Bomba to be granted bail arguing that he was of no fixed aboard.

He was advised to approach the High Court for bail application.

Allegations facing Bomba are that on April 30 this year at around 7pm,he had a misunderstanding with the deceased identified as Simba Matsimo.

The two argued on the issue that the now deceased was lying that he was employed by OK Supermarket whilst he was picking things from the bins.

It is alleged that after the argument the two then parted ways with the accused going to his house while the deceased remained for sometime before he proceeded to his house.

The court heard that on the same date at around 8pm the accused went to one Loveness Mlauzi’s place of residence and lit his paraffin light before proceeding to the deceased’s house made of grass and lit it whilst Matsimo was inside.

It is alleged that Matsimo failed to escape and was burnt to death.

He was arrested after being seen by Frank Pakuenda hiding in the maize field.
