Roosevelt Girls High School is under fire after they went on and hosted The Miss Schools 2016 pageant in a bar on Saturday.
The event was organised by the Rotaract Club of the same school and held at Radost located inside the LongChen Plaza Mall.
When our News crew arrived at the show, there was no adult in sight, as we tried to get a comment from the organisers we were referred from one school girl to another and the poor little kids had no idea what they were doing.
The event which was supposed to start at 1200 noon, ended up starting around 3 pm.
The youngest model taking part in the beauty contest was 15 years old.
Various modeling agencies tried to stop the event from happening but the organisers would not heed the call.
Our Team has it on good authority that a concerned citizen(name withheld) made contact with Roosevelt Girls High to try and stop the event from happening in a bar but her efforts were fruitless.
To make matters worse alcohol was being served in the bar and some teenagers could be seen helping themselves to the ‘holy waters.’
On the ramp, it was a complete disaster if not abuse as the innocent school kids were made to appear in skimpy semi-nu_de clothes.
In another category titled ‘Naughty School Girl’ one model came with a cigarette, lit it and smoked it on stage before blowing the smoke in the judges’ direction.
However, the judges showed gross irresponsibility when they simply could have stopped the event from taking place in the bar or recused themselves from the duty.
The official event ended around 6pm but the kids still remained in the bar.
This disturbing occurrence comes hot on the heels of another concern over the abuse of shool kids after Harare West legislator Honourable Jessie Majome raised concern in Parliament that the Jah Prayzah ‘Eriza’ video would incite men to view schoolgirls as se_xual objects.
