OSCAR Pistorius was electronically tagged yesterday as one of his bail conditions while he awaits sentencing for murdering girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
North Gauteng Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba set bail at R10 000.
After Pistorius was tagged at the department of correctional services in the Poynton Building, in the CBD, he left by the back entrance.
He may not travel further than 20km from his uncle’s Waterkloof home, where he was under correctional supervision for his original culpable homicide sentence.
He is allowed to leave home between 7am and noon, but needs the investigating officer’s written permission to leave it at other times.
Advocate Barry Roux told Ledwaba an application would be made to the Constitutional Court for leave to appeal against the Supreme Court of Appeal’s conviction of Pistorius for murder.
If that application doesn’t succeed, Pistorius would return to the North Gauteng High Court for sentencing. The case was postponed to 18 April.
In Bloemfontein last week, the appeal court replaced Pistorius’s culpable homicide conviction with one of murder.
He faces a minimum of 15 years in jail for murder. – NEWS 24
