Tererai Mugwadi is BACK features on hip hop artist 8L’s new track

URBAN grooves singer, Tererai Mugwadi, has resurfaced from a long spell of silence, featuring on hip hop artist 8L’s new track, Gangsta Love, released recently.

The track, which is about two lovers sharing an intimate relationship, has been making the waves on local radio stations.

8L — real name Blessed Zikali — revealed how they came up with the concept of Gangsta Love.

“The concept stems from Bonnie and Clyde, the 8L version has the girl obsessed with the gangster and ready to do whatever to ride with me. I had to localise it by bringing in Tererai. The idea is to keep it international but also bringing in the local flavour,” he said. The rapper spoke highly on working with Tererai.

“She is a musical genius, she is very talented and trust me when we in the studio we just do music, she is very creative and a perfectionist like me so we have chemistry in the studio,” said 8L.

In 2011, Tererai earned the wild child of local music tag amid reports that she was battling an alcohol and drug addiction.

She is one of the most talented Zimbabwean musicians and among the local Urban Grooves pioneers, who rose to stardom in the 2000s with her hit Waenda. The song was taken off the Chamhembe Volume 1 compilation album.
