Act professionally Zimbabwe police urged

Police have been urged to conduct themselves in a professional manner when dealing with the public.

This was said by the Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Ignatius Chombo during a rally at Mkoba Stadium in Gweru.

The remarks by Dr Chombo come against a backdrop concerns by people over their ill-treatment in the hands of the law enforcers.

The police should desist from harassing members of the public as this creates unnecessary tension between the two parties,” he said.

On a separate note, Chombo said the government will speed up the recapitalisation of the Zimbabwe Passenger Company (ZUPCO) to curb transport challenges in towns that have been worsening due to protests by commuter omnibus operators.

The rally was attended by senior Zanu PF officials who included the Minister for Sports and Recreation Makhosini Hlongwane, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Engineer Tapiwa Matangaidze, Legislator for Silobela Constituency Engineer MacKenzie Ncube and Zanu PF proportional representation legislator Tionei Dziva and other party officials.
