A hooker from the Capital City who was facing charges of robbing a Gokwe magistrate Thursday walked free after she was cleared by the courts.

Magistrate, Vakai Chikwekwe, acquitted Melody Hamandawana, saying evidence given by Shephered Munjanja could not lead to a conviction.

Chikwekwe said both Hamandawana and Munjanja gave fictitious evidence which was difficult to believe.

“There is real doubt on the version of both the complainant and the accused. It is difficult to accept any version,” he said.

The magistrate said Munjanja told the court that he was robbed of everything but did not say how he then paid for a cab that took them to town to withdraw more money from his bank account.

Chikwekwe also said the case left one with so many questions why Munjanja did not raise alarm when he was in the taxi or to bank officials but chose to escape to the police station.

Hamandawa is accused of robbing Munjanja with the help of two other s.ex workers as well as two other men. One of the women also alleged that Munjanja raped her.

Prosecutor Venencia Mutake told the court that Munjanja was lured by an unnamed man to buy tyres from him while he was seated in his parked car.

The court heard that the man told Munjanja that he had an office on the second floor of Treckerel court which is a brothel. The man allegedly urged Munjanja to follow him so that he could see the tyres on sale.

Upon arrival at the alleged office, the man then shoved Munjanja into a room where there were three women who purportedly assaulted and robbed him.

The prosecutor told the court that the three forced Munjanja to go to his bank in their company so that he would withdraw more money on top of what they had already robbed him of.

Munjanja managed to escape and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Hamandawana.

However, Hamandawana’s defence was that she was hired for s.ex by Munjanja.

She told the court that she performed blow job on him before the two had s.ex but was only paid $3 for the services which cost $20.

Hamandawana told the court that it was Munjanja who owed him. She also claimed that Munjanja further fleeced her of more money after she was arrested, saying if she paid him his purportedly missing $160 he would drop the charges.

The hooker also queried why Munjanja believed he would get spare parts from a flat packed with semi-naked women.
