Macheso album hits the streets today

HE long wait for sungura enthusiasts is finally over as Alick Macheso’s 10th album, Tsoka Dzerwendo, hits the market today.

The six-track album was recorded at Alema Studios with the assistance of renowned producer, Bothwell Nyamhondera.

Tracks featured on the album are Baba, Kurarama Inyasha, Gungwa, Wandirangaridza, Mude Mude and Munyaradzi, all social commentaries.

Macheso’s manager Tich Makahamadze said the album will be available in different formats, including online, to cater for fans in the Diaspora, who can also buy the album from today.

“We have a fleet of vehicles across the country that will be distributing the original CDs selling at $1. The CDs are also available at all Nash Paints branches and Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) depots across the country,” he said.

“Mobile teams co-ordinated by Nash Paints and ZRCS, who are our partners and primary distributors of the album, will be in different streets across the country selling CDs to reach our multitude of fans.”

Makahamadze said their South African fans would be able to buy the album at New Town
(Mashate Restaurant) and Boksburg Hotel for R50.

Macheso, the ZRCS humanitarian ambassador, said he took long to release the album as he wanted to come up with a perfect product that would hold its own on the market.

“I have been working on this new album for some time because I did not want to give people a half-baked product,” he said.

Meanwhile, local music marketing and distribution company, Jive Zimbabwe, are organising a massive launch of the album on Thursday at the Harare International Conference Centre, with surprise guest artistes to grace the event.

Jive Zimbabwe director, Benjamin Nyandoro said they will be entertainment galore at the launch, featuring about six surprise top acts across genres and urged fans to come in their numbers to celebrate with Macheso.

“We are running a competition on who can predict the six pack (acts to perform) right, and the lucky fans will win a signed copy of the CD,” he said.
