Mzansi actress and model Omuhle Gela has angered fans. This following her Instagram post last Sunday, of a young lady from Pretoria named Thato Neluheni (19). Thato posted a picture of herself on Facebook, wearing a bikini top and shorts, and it instantly went viral, with people calling her all sorts of names. Omuhle reposted the picture on Instagram and captioned it Mood.
Her followers called Thato ugly and a s-lut. But some didn’t find this amusing as they had witnessed the hate the photo had received on Facebook. One of Omuhle’s followers, who happened to be Thato’s sister, called Omuhle to order. The angry and disappointed sister said: “This is disappointing. People like you should be using your platform to do good. You post bikini pictures of yourself all the time. Just because her body isn’t as perfect as yours doesn’t give you the right to make fun of her.”
Omuhle replied and wrote: “It’s not that deep fam, and thank you for the compliment.”
She then deleted the picture.
Speaking to Sunday Sun, Thato said: “I was shocked because she obviously found the picture on Facebook, where it was being shared with all sorts of hurtful captions.
“She could have taken it to Instagram and shared a message of ‘no body-shaming’.”
In her defence, Omuhle said: “I had no malicious intentions when I posted a picture of a woman wearing a bikini in the hot weather with the caption Mood. But when I realised the post was seen as harmful, I deleted the picture.”
