The nurse who allegedly ra-ped a patient on Sunday is still on the run with information emerging that he has another pending case before the courts. The Zimbabwe Republic Police said yesterday they were seeking for information on the whereabouts of Taurai Mazarura, a registered general nurse who fled after he was allegedly caught having se_x with a patient.
“I can confirm that ZRP is seeking information on the whereabouts of the nurse who allegedly ra-ped a patient at Parirenyatwa hospital and ran away,” said national police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi.
The 32-year-old is said to have walked into Parirenyatwa group of hospitals Ward A1 where a 17-year-old patient was admitted and closed cubicles curtains, before ra-ping her. Another nurse on duty walked in on Taurai while he was having se/-x with the patient before he (Taurai) jumped off the scene and ran away.
He returned moments later and (according to sources) when he saw police and internal security conducting investigations, he ran away. The victim. A street kid, who had been admitted after she was hit by a car and sustained injuries is receiving appropriate medical care and counselling after the incident. The ward had three other patients admitted and another nurse on duty is said to have caught Taurai red-handed after she opened the cubicle to check if all was well.
