AFTER failing to make a huge impact on the showbiz industry as a sungura artiste, Tendai “Dotcom” Chipara crossed floors into the religion sector where he is drawing big crowds as a charismatic prophet, claiming he has the power to resurrect dead people.
Chipara, who claims Nigerian preacher TB Joshua is his spiritual father, is attached to one of the contemporary Pentecostal churches in the country, New Revelation.
Last week, Chipara, who changed his name to Miracle Paul, shocked Warren Park residents in Harare when he claimed to have miraculously resurrected a dead woman at his church.
The church publicist Abel Mutambirwa narrated the resurrection story to the Weekend Post.
“Mercy Moyo came to the church while critically ill and unfortunately ‘died’ before the arrival of the prophet, Miracle Paul.
“By the time the prophet arrived, some of the congregants were already mourning Moyo and we were all shocked when Miracle Paul prayed for her and she resurrected. God wanted to demonstrate His power through Miracle Paul,” Mutambirwa said.
After “rising from the dead”, Moyo shared her experience.
“Ndazongoona ndamuchitima ndobva ndaburuka ndikatanga kufamba neka-road kadiki diki kusvika pakagate kadiki. (I only remember that I was boarding a train and when I disembarked from it, I walked down a small road which led me to a small gate).
“Ipapo ndakaona vanhu hobho vakandimirira asi wandakatanga kuziva ndisekuru vanova vakabereka amai vangu. Sekuru ava vakafa kare kare. (There, I saw a number of people waiting for me, I only realised my maternal grandfather who died long back).
Sekuru vakuda kundivhurira gate iri vachiti titambire muzukuru ndipo pabva pauya mumwe murume anga akapfeka suit yeblack akati hapana kwaunoenda. (My grandfather wanted to open the gate for me, to welcome me but he was failed to do so by a man in black suit who blocked me).
“Ndipo pandazoona kuti ndipastor vechurch ino,(I then realised the black man in suit as the pastor from this church),” she told the congregants.
Since former Ramangwana Musica front man relinquished his career in music in 2014 to revive New Revelation Ministries which was formed in 1986 by self-styled prophet Abel Mutumwa, the church has experienced tremendous growth mainly due to his “power of healing and delivering” people.
The church is headquartered in South Africa and boast of other branches in Ghana, Tanzania and Namibia among other countries.
Last year, Miracle Paul made headlines in the media after he introduced a miracle ring which was meant to enhance one’s fortunes in life.
The ring was put on any figure and the jewelleries were selling like hot cakes at $5 each. Miracle Paul told this publication that though his heart was on music, he could not resist God’s call.
“I never knew I will become a prophet one day but no one can resist God’s call. So far, we have opened three branches in Zimbabwe that is Warren Park, Mabvuku and Bindura.
“What is happening so far is amazing,” he said.
