A fourteen year old Chitungwiza boy died from injuries sustained following an attempted suicide after a confrontation with his mother. Steady Takunda Wazvaremaka died after being admitted at Chitungwiza central hospital.

Initially, Takunda was saved from death by his mother after he was found hanging from an electric cable. He eventually succumbed to the injuries from the suicide.

Impeccable sources told H-Metro that Takunda was expelled from a mission school last year over nu_de pictures that were discovered in his mobile phone.

“He was initially saved as he tried to commit suicide, but during the attempt, he sustained serious brain damage so it was going to be a miracle if he had survived. It’s unfortunate he could not stand being reprimanded by his mother, prompting him to attempt suicide. This boy was expelled from boarding school last year after he was found with nu_de pictures in his phone,” the source said.

When H-Metro attended the funeral at house number 8701, Unit K,Chitungwiza, yesterday, scores of mourners including, pupils from Seke 6 High School where he was now learning, paid their condolences and one of the pupils prayed for Takunda to be forgiven and eventually rest in peace.

“Tinokumbira mweya waMwari uise runyararo, mweya wekuregerera ngaubate tinoramba mweya wakaipa weSatanism muzvikoro,” she said. Takunda’s father, who is still to come to terms with the death, refused to entertain H-metro saying the funeral was private.

“I am not comfortable speaking to the press at the moment and I feel it (funeral) is private,” said Mr. Wazvaremaka.

However, Takunda’s aunt-only identified as Mai Witness- said Takunda was admitted at Harare Central Hospital and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals before he was referred back to Chitungwiza central hospital as they grappled to save his life.

“We tried everything to save him, but I want to believe time had already come for him to be with the Lord. Several doctors tried hard to save his life as he was shuttled between three referral hospitals, but all in vain.

Akawanikwa akazvisunga netambo husiku kuma11pm and we were all shocked since the issue of a cellphone he had quarreled about with his other was over. If all goes according to plan, we are expecting to bury him tomorrow (today) in Chihota”.
